Press Release Body: The Rockets of Ahmedabad did not do justice to their name in this match of ICL series against the Delhi Giants. The sparks that should have flown from their end were mere stutters and they failed to deliver good performance. The Delhi Giants therefore registered an easy win over them and now have four points in this series.
The trends in the series are now being speculated as the teams following it than creating it. Rockets won the toss and elected to bat first so that they could create some pressure on the team of Giants. Things however happened otherwise. Early wickets of Dholpure and Hinds spoilt the whole game for them and the openers went back to the pavilion before three overs were bowled. An addition wicket in the fourth over made things go slightly haywire for the team. DR Martyn and Sriram held strike for some considerable time and made the runs rise on the score board. However they too were sent back after a partnership of 62 runs. Streak and Sodhi came in and were on strike when the innings ended at 107 runs.
Giants came in to bat after the innings with Gunawardene and Mishra for the opening. Both the batsmen performed really well and the team had scored 66 runs in ten overs but Mishra was lost in the end. Nonetheless his support to the other opener was indispensable. Bali came in after him and played well too. Gunawardene made 55 runs and Bali was on 34, both unbeaten when the match was won by the Delhi Giants.
The Rockets of Ahmedabad really need to improve their performance if they want to stay in the game. We need to see some actual sparks in their forthcoming matches.
